Henry John Heinz, a pioneer in the food processing industry, established Heinz, Noble & Co. in 1869 with partner L. Clarence Noble to make and sell processed foods. Horseradish was the company's first product of a quickly expanding line. Financial difficulties forced company bankruptcy in 1875.
